My wife, is now joining me, and we are taking on this journey together under the new name of Photographers Skeen.

From this point forward we will be hanging out at on our new blog, so come stop by and say Hi.

Jenn and Randy’s wedding was such a blast! The outdoor ceremony at Kindred Oaks almost turned into an indoor ceremony, as it was pouring rain about an hour before the anticipated start time. But as luck would have it, the clouds rolled away and the sun came out just in time to walk these two down the aisle.

And as if being a Bride on a rainy day wasn’t enough stress, Jenn also had to make sure that her wedding cake that she made (She made her own cake!!!) was perfect, as well as all the handmade paper bouquets were all in place. It was definitely  D.I.Y. projects taken to a new level, which she handled wonderfully.

After a beautiful ceremony, friends and family gathered on the dance floor well into the evening, and finally sent Jenn and Randy off with sparklers. It was the perfect end to the perfect night.

Over 26,000 people ran in the half-marathon in San Antonio last week, including our friend Molly. I found it pretty inspiring to watch a marathon taking place. Maybe it is because I know I am in no condition to attempt the feat, but witnessing something like this really gives me a little motivation to get into shape.

You should never ask my wife to keep a secret. That’s rule number one. But Brad didn’t know this when he called her to tell her that he was going to propose to his girlfriend and her best friend, Molly.

Rule number two, if you are going to ask my wife to keep a secret, don’t ask her to keep it for very long. At least Brad stuck with this rule. A week ago we got a call from Brad asking us if we were going to be at Molly’s half-marathon the next day. He then asked if I was bringing my camera. Kendi, my wife, became suspicious.

“Are you coming? I didn’t think you’d be able to make it.”

He said he was already in town…with a ring in hand…ready to propose. Kendi’s suspicions were confirmed. So I made her promise me that she would keep her mouth shut for the next twelve hours. And by promise, I mean I threatened her with duct tape over the mouth.

The next morning, I with my camera, Kendi with her secret, and Brad with a diamond ring, watched Molly run across the finish line. Brad’s unexpected appearance surprised her, but when he dropped to his knee, Molly’s face was priceless. Luckily, we got it all, frame by frame.

It is often the simplest moments and everyday things that become the most memorable.

Vicki and David were married outside of Austin, Texas on an October evening, and if you ask me, there isn’t a better time to get married in Texas than an evening in autumn. 

As you can tell, this couple has a sweet love that is shared by their family and  friends. The ceremony was full of love and the reception was full of life. If their wedding is reminiscent of how their marriage will be, it will be beautiful.

Happy Birthday, Kendi

When I first met Neadra and George two things came to mind: that these two were made for each other and that they would know how to throw a great party. I was right about both.

Neadra and George were married on a September evening in downtown Dallas. The ceremony was perfect. It was full of love, life and laughter.  A grand reception followed the beautiful ceremony and with friends and family around to celebrate, celebrate they did. That night, I couldn’t stop smiling; Neadra and George’s love and excitement was contagious. As I was editing the photos I found myself smiling again, and now as I look through the photos–smiling again. I would bet if you look through and don’t crack a smile — your sadness probably can’t be cured.
